Buying and Collecting Basketball Shoes

A lot of men around my age group ( 30s) have become nostalgic for vintage mens basketball shoes like the Air Jordans and other shoes of our youth.

I have become pretty frugal, so I am not really up on collecting a lot of vintage kicks but I do reminisce some about the shoes I had when I was a kid, and all the money I spent!

When I had a summer job as a teen I spent almost all my money on Nike Air Jordans and other shoes like Scottie Pippens, Chris Webber C-Webs, you name it.

Now I see there is a real market and interest for collecting these reminders of the past- and actually wearing them. I guess it's like collecting baseball cards, music, and other hobbies of my youth. I can't really get into the new stuff. I dont even know what shoes are "hot" these days and a lot seem downright terrible. I remember a time when function went well with fashion.

As a kid I would wear Nike basketball shoes all the time. With shorts, jeans, any kind of attire really. There really wasnt anything else in my shoe world.

The First Time I bought Shoes Online

A few years back I bought shoes online for the first time. I used what is probably the biggest online shoe seller- Zappos. I don't remember the exact shoes I bought but I think they were Clarks.

The best part about the ordering process was no tax, free shipping, and fast shipping. Also I could find exactly what I wanted and have it the next day. No need to go to a store and not find the right style or color.

Since that time, I think I have bought all my shoes online, from Nike basketball shoes, to New Balance running shoes, and regular casual and work shoes.

I buy just about everything I can ( except for some food and perishables) through online stores, and shoes have been one of the best items for this method.
